Freedom writers :)

(Based on the movie that you had watch)

QUESTION 1
1. What do you think of the movie? Explain about the -
a) The 203 students life and attitude
b) The teacher, Miss Erin Gruwell
c) The school environment

The Freedom Writers Diary is the amazing true story of strength, courage, and achievement in the face of adversity.  In the fall of 1994, in Room 203 at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California. This 203 students are full with revenge and lives in a racist situation. For example, The Freedom Writers movies starts out with one of the students, Eva, giving a voice over talking about the city kids in LA. She is violence and frequently, death is a daily part of her lives where gang carry guns and use them indiscriminately. The other student's life and attitude is Marcus's life. He had so many issues since he was a young boy. He was face with many trails, and put through many things. Other than that, he also had secret no one knew, he wanted to go back home to his mother but did not know how to. Thus, he changed himself in order to show his mother that he was not going to disappointing her anymore.

Next, about the teacher, Mrs G (Erin Gruwell). She helped change each child's life. The focus on the movie began with her deciding to change her career choice and become a teacher. Every event that took place involved her trying to help her students become better and let them know that they were in the safe environment. She was the reason why her class had become united and everyone understood each other and showed respect for each other. Mrs G is a daughter, a wife and a teacher. Mrs G is a new teacher in school, which have a racist problem among the students. For man of the students, Mrs G's method were their first experience including detailed stories of abuse, explicit street language and extreme violence.

The scenario of the school clearly manifest how environment affects students learning. Majority of the students suffer from the issues regarding racism and cultural diversity which sets them apart and made them involved in serious gang wars. This results in low classroom performance plus the fact that most students are not given proper support and attention by their families. Students are motivated from what surrounds them. When the learning environment is full of negative elements, students will loose their focus and will stop them from achieving their goals.

QUESTION 2
2. Explain the moral values (at least 3) that you have learned in the movie,

Moral values that I have learned in the Freedom Writers movie is if you try your best, you can achieve what you are aiming for. It is different because it is real. Erin Gruwell teaches them to be real, to be honest, and to be themselves. From the  movie, one learns that she started her effort to reach out to the students, including working a second job, when she was still a student teacher.

Other than that, the other moral values that I have learned is we have to respect our teachers while they are teaching. As we can see in the movie, the students have not pay attention while the teacher was teaching. One situation happened where a student has drew a picture of a person and pass it over around the floor and they have laughed, until the teacher realized on what has happened. The teacher has managed to control the situation where she told the student who drew the picture to make some drawings on the boa rd because that student might have a good talent in drawings. This is how that I think a teacher should do in order to make students feel ashamed on what they did.

Last but not least, the other important moral values that I has learned is the student's motivation. We have to improve our level of motivation. We have to improve our level of motivation if we want to success in this challenging lives. The students in "Freedom Writers" have very low motivation due to their background and the history of their life. They have no motivation to success, to be a good person and even they only told their oneself to take revenge on what they have gone through their life. The teacher has instilled a motivation to the students slowly. She motivates the students by talks to them about the history and emphasis on the importance of each life and also the importance of being tolerate plus have a peaceful life.
